Drama & Theatre at CCA

The Drama and Theatre Program at Calvary Chapel Academy is dedicated to fostering a love for the performing arts within a Christian worldview. We strive to equip students with the skills and confidence to express themselves creatively, build strong relationships, and glorify God through their talents.

CCA’s Drama and Theatre Program is committed to providing a comprehensive and engaging theatre education that prepares students for success in college and beyond. We believe that theatre is a powerful tool for personal and spiritual growth, and we are excited to share our passion with the next generation of theatre artists.

Our Program

Our program offers courses which encompass acting, directing, technical theatre, and scriptwriting. Through our classes, productions, and extracurricular activities, students will:
  • Develop their acting skills: Students will learn techniques such as voice and speech, movement, improvisation, and character analysis.
  • Gain experience in technical theatre: Students will have opportunities to work on lighting, sound, set design, and costume design.
  • Explore scriptwriting and playwriting: Students will learn the fundamentals of writing for the stage and have the chance to create their own original works.
  • Participate in productions: Students will have the opportunity to perform in a variety of productions, including plays, musicals, and original works.

  • High School Theatre

    High School Theatre I–IV: These courses introduce students to the basic elements of theatre, including acting, directing, and technical theatre. Students focus on developing acting skills, including voice and speech, movement, improvisation, and character analysis. Students interested in technical theatre will explore the technical aspects of theatre production, including lighting, sound, set design, and costume design. These courses teach students the fundamentals of writing for the stage, including plot development, characterization, and dialogue.
  • Middle School Drama

    Drama: Students will learn the basics of acting and script writing.

Extracurricular Activities

  • High School Musical Theatre

    Musical theatre is offered through performances and focuses on the unique challenges and opportunities of musical theatre, including singing, dancing, and acting.
  • Thespian Society

    This honor society for high school theatre students recognizes outstanding achievement in theatre arts and provides opportunities for leadership and service.
